Sridevi was born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on August 13, 1963, and died February 24, 2018, was an Indian actress and film producer who acted in films in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. She starred in a variety of genres, from slapstick humour to epic tragedies, and was dubbed the “First Female Superstar” of Indian cinema. She received the Padma Shri, a National Film Award, a Nandi Award, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award, a Kerala State Film Award, four Filmfare Awards, including a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and three Filmfare Awards South.

Acting Debut

Especially Sridevi made her debut as a child actress at the age of four in the 1967 Tamil film Kandhan Karunai; and she began her acting career in leadership roles as a child in M. A. Thirumugam’s 1969 mythological Tamil film Thunaivan. She went on to work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films as a child actress. Rani Mera Naam was her first Hindi film when she was nine years old (1972). Moreover At the age of 13, she was cast in the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu; which was her first part as an adult. With parts in numerous blockbuster films; she swiftly established herself as one of South Indian cinema’s most prominent and leading female stars.

Honorary Accomplishments

Moreover the state governments of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala both presented her with honorary awards. The Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, was bestowed on her by the Indian government in 2013. In a CNN-IBN national survey held in 2013 to commemorate the centennial of Indian film, she was selected ‘India’s Greatest Actress in 100 Years.’ She was discovered dead in her guest room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on February 24, 2018, as a result of an accidental drowning. Her death was widely reported in both Indian and foreign news outlets. She had two children with film producer Boney Kapoor, one of which was actress Janhvi Kapoor.
