Satyajit Ray: The Life of A Legend

A jewel was born on 2nd May 1921 who added to the elegance of their family. There was almost nothing left on his list to be made perfect in every aspect. For every Bengali, he was Manik da familiarly known as the great Satyajit Ray who was both the jack and master of all trades. In his childhood, his mother persuaded him to engross himself in the art school of Tagore in Shantiniketan. The enriched eastern and western culture of India attracted him. After coming back to Kolkata, he got an advertising job, it was the start of his world of magic.

Soon, as a director, he made his first cinema, Pather Panchali based on the novel by Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay. After that, he kept on making relatable movies and a treat to watch even now. Through cinemas like Hirak Rajar Deshe, Gupi Gayeen Bagha Bayeen, Charulata, Aparajito, and some more masterpieces had just put out that his thoughts were on some other level. The first detective story written by him was Feluda which got published in Sandesh magazine. Due to its popularity, Mr Ray wrote several stories under Feluda, and currently, it has two volumes of books. He even cultured Science fiction and wrote Professor Shonku that became quite popular. Besides being a writer, a director and a painter he also was a music composer.

His movies had quite several kinds of music made by him. Not just did India acknowledge his talent but also the foreign countries showered their love for him. Satyajit Ray received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, and the most prestigious Honorary Award at 64th Academy Awards. Several films made by him have received a lot of appreciation and awards at film festivals. Though the best prize he had, was people’s love for him. Well, we had the privilege of being gifted with his priceless works for a lifetime.
