Ravish Kumar – the Journalist

Ravish Kumar – ‘Sometimes a battle is not fought just to win, but to ensure the coming generations that there was someone who was fighting the battle.’, this famous quote from this personality assures us every time. Some people lack the courage to face the powerful but some are just born with that spine. They can never stoop low in front of any authority and will keep their head held high forever. Ravish Kumar is one such name that has become synonymous with true journalism, sheer courage and determination. He has received Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2019 for his unbiased finesse in the field of journalism. He is the fifth Indian journalist to have been conferred with this award.

He hails from a very ordinary village of Bihar. His initial school days are from Loyola High School Patna. He later got shifted to Delhi for his higher studies. He got graduated from Deshbandhu College of Delhi University. He is also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, where he enrolled himself in a course of post-graduate diploma in Hindi Journalism.

He started his career at NDTV. He is now the Senior Executive Editor at NDTV India. In his career spanning more than several decades, he has always represented the true core sense of journalism. He is seen as the voice of journalism that is not influenced by any political inclinations. His most famous show Prime Time with Ravish is followed by every section of Indians who wants the real news.

At a time when the standards of Journalism in India has stooped to a new low and yellow journalism has established its existence, it is journalists like Ravish Kumar whose opinions matter. He is married to Nayana Dasgupta, a professor of History from lady Shri Ram College of Delhi University. He has been conferred with multiple awards and recognitions from time to time for his fearless journalism. He is the face of independent journalism that is still existing in India.
