Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born May 19, 1974, and is an Indian actor who is known for his work mainly in Bollywood. He is a former student of the National School of Drama. Siddiqui’s first feature film debut was directed by Prashant Bhargava in Patang in (2012).
Siddiqui is best known for his roles and amazing acting skills in The Lunchbox (2013), and Manto (2018). He is the only actor who got selected in the world to have a total of 8 films officially screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Early Life
He is the eldest of eight siblings in his family. He spent most of his childhood in Uttarakhand and graduated with a degree Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya college, Haridwar. Not only this but he also worked as a chemist in Vadodara for 1 year, before in search of a new job in Delhi.
Once upon a time in Delhi, Siddique was instantly drawn to acting after watching a play on television. In pursuit of getting admission to the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi, he acted in a total of ten plays with a group of friends, including one who is from Dehradun to fulfill one of the criteria for admission to [NSD].
Career and Awards
Between 2004 – 2007, Siddiqui had a few minor roles in films, that also includes Black Friday, which was released in 2007 and was a nominee for the Golden Leopard award. In 2009, he appeared for a cameo role in the song “Emotional Atyachar” in the movie Dev D, where he played the role of Rangila.
He performed a duet with Rasila together known as Patna ke Presley. In the same year 2007, Siddiqui appeared in New York. However, it begins with his role as a journalist in Anusha Rizvi’s 2010 film Peepli Live, which first got him wide recognition as an actor where he got a huge amount of appreciation. Similarly, In 2012, he appeared in Prashant Bhargava’s Patang: The Kite, which got premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival.
