Sudha Murthy is a name that has taught us that the secret to a happy living is not in monetary living. Life is beyond that. She was the only girl student in her department of Computer Engineering. Back then, girls used to refrain from taking Computer Engineering degrees. She inspired more and more girls to take up the course. She also ranked top in her college in the batch. She has helped to install computers and had arranged for computer classes in the schools of the state of Karnataka. she was also awarded the Best Teachers Award in 1995 by the Rotary Club of Bangalore.

She has received Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award by the Government of India in 2006 under the social work category. She is known for her social works. She has helped many women to find a new meaning in their lives. She has helped the ‘Devdasis’ throughout these years to find a way in their lives. The Devdasi culture in Karnataka was prevalent for a long time. She has created several orphanages and schools for children.

She is also known for her literary talent. She is a lady with multiple talents. She has made her own identity. She is the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation. She is also a member of the health care initiatives under the GATES Foundation. Her Kannada work ‘Dollar Bahu’ was adapted in the form of a daily soap. She has also appeared in both Marathi and Kannada films. She is married to N. R. Narayan Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys Foundation. She was the first female engineer to be hired in the largest auto manufacturer company, TELCO. She is an inspiration herself to many young girls.
