Jeremy Lalrinnunga is an Indian weightlifter, he’s from Aizawl, Mizoram. He represented India in the year 2018 at the first Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. He won the gold medal among the Boys for’ 62 kg category weightlifting with a weight of 274 kg. Jeremy has also won the silver medal in the Asian weightlifting championship. In the recent 2019 World Weightlifting Championships, he ranked 21st in the Men’s 67 kg event. Then he again won gold in the year 2022 Commonwealth Games, in the 67 kg category, with a total game record lift of 140kg in snatch and 160kg in both clean and jerk.

Lalrinnunga’s family and Neighbours had together gathered at their home. They watch Jeremy Lalrinnunga compete at the first Youth Olympics in wrestling from several miles away in Argentina. But this 15-year-old boy from Aizawl did not get panicked for once. He committed a foul on the second attempt in Olympic to snatch. Later another foul on the second attempt in the clean and jerk. With a total lift of 274kg in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, Jeremy won the gold medal making him India’s first gold medalist in Youth Olympics history.

Achievement in Olympics

On Tuesday, Jeremy kept a promise to his family, when he became India’s first-ever youth gold medalist in wrestling at the YOG after clinching gold in the men’s 62kg weightlifting competition. The Mizoram boy lifted a complete of 274kg (124kg snatch & 150kg clean and jerk) to simply beat the remainder of the sector. The silver visited Turkey’s Toptal Caner, who lifted 263kg. The effort showed that Jeremy improved upon his personal better of 273kg (snatch + clean and jerk) achieved during a tournament at the NIS Patiala last month in June 2022.
