AVANI LEKHARA- THE FIRST GOLDEN GIRL FROM INDIA IN THE PARALYMPICS

Avani Lekhara was born on 8th November 2001. She is an Indian rifle shooter as well as a Paralympian. She is truly a daughter of India who knows how to keep on fighting against all odds. Who could have believed that a 19-year-old girl with a serious injury can reach so far? Yes of course the whole world looks up to her now.  A teen girl winning the first-ever gold medal in Paralympics in the women category for India. She won her victory in rifle shooting of 10meters and set an unbeatable Paralympic record of 249.6. What could be a prouder moment than this for our country?

Avani was having a happy lifestyle unless she met with a car accident at the age of 11. Such a tragic attack made her body paralyzed down to the waist. But when she came to her senses, her eyes looked for a change. And guess what! The simple girl who did not know sports started learning one after her accident. Her injury is serious, the incident gave her complete paraplegia due to a severe spinal injury. Her family did support her a lot, especially her father. He inspired her to take up sports, join archery but she found his passion in the shooting.

The golden girl found her passion in shooting after she heard about Avinav Bindra in 2015. He won the first-ever gold medal in Olympics for India under the same category. Who knows that some other legend is taking motivation from Avani Lekhara, the same way she took it from Avinav Bindra.

After so much hard work and motivation, she won a gold medal in 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 in Tokyo Paralympics 2020. She is a true inspiration for everyone. She had faith in herself and aced the talent which she naturally had. At present, she is a law student in Rajasthan, India. At last, she is an Indian.
