Achinta Sheuli was born on November 24, 2001, and is an Indian weightlifter, he competes in the 73 kg weight class in the recent 2022 Commonwealth Games, he set a total Games record of 313 kg and won the gold medal. Achinta had lifted 143 kg in snatch and also lifted 170 kg in clean & jerk. He has won the silver medal in the year 2021 for the Junior World Weightlifting Championships and had also won a two-time Commonwealth Championships gold medalist from west Bengal, India.

Family Status

Achinta Sheuli was born in a very lower-class family in Deulpur, Panchla in the Howrah district. He studied in Deulpur highschool. He started weightlifting in 2011. His father Pratik Sheuli was a working man who kicked the bucket in April 2013. His elder brother Alok was also a weightlifter but dropped dead set support his career and therefore the family.

Achinta helped his mother and brother in their embroidery work that concerned precision, whilst he was training for weightlifting which required power. Sheuli once participated in Youth National Games that was in Haryana and stood in the third position. He won the Junior National level weightlifting tournament in 2013 for the 50kg weight class. He got an opportunity to enter the military Sports Institute, Pune in 2014.

Weightlifting Championship

Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli (73 kg) lived up to his advertising as he won India’s third laurel wreath in the Commonwealth Games 2022. He lifted 143 kg in the snatch and 170 kg in clean and jerk to top of the sphere. That was sooner than that in Malaysia’s Erry Hidayat Mohammad. Who took the decoration with a complete of 303 kg, while Canada’s Darsigny won Bronze with a complete of 298 kg.

Achinta Sheuli’s prize is India’s third in the Commonwealth Games 2022 and also the sixth one in total. All coming in from weightlifting. After the win, Achinta Sheuli credited his family for the medal and also the sacrifices made by them.
